What I missed about Windows
Chrome. Google has made the best browser ever, when I was on Windows I used to use it all the time. Since my main computer is currently in a coma I’ve busted out my laptop/22” monitor combo that will keep me ticking over until I have the time to work out just what went wrong.
When Firefox introduced the Google box for searching next to the url input box, I thought, wow! It was my main reason for switching from Internet Explorer (and the first time I really thought I could). Now we have an absolute abundance of good browsers, Opera is now solid, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and IE7 upwards. Chrome has trounced this because the very idea of having a massive browsing window is engaging with the content you want to see. Google exists only to get you to your content and it does it really well.
Now I’m back on my PC I can see the lightside of Windows, Google Chrome is pulling me in again. Safari is just so basic, it doesn’t have any tab functionality other than open and close and any plugins feel like cheap tricks. Chrome is the best bits about Firefox and the sleek design of Safari rolled in a way only Google knows how (and everyone will copy).
When Chrome is on the mac I’ll finally concede (albeit temporarily) that things are the way they should be. Until then, Windows still has steam.
